Primary Personnel at Cullen Grace

With over 20 years in woodworking and furniture building, 3 years in the computer graphics industry, and an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, President Ken Smith brings a genuine and unusual level of expertise to the pieces he designs and helps create. Blending an eye for detail with a flair for the uncommon, Ken's leadership at Cullen Grace Joinery is apparent in not only his client base and the quality of work produced, but in the experimental, even whimsical, materials and details Ken enjoys incorporating into signature pieces the shop produces.

As Vice President, Mark Grothman, former dancer for American Ballet Theatre, has chosen woodworking as his second career. However, through many of his 12 years as a dancer, Mark pursued furniture making, and established a flourishing cabinetry business of his own, with clients not only in Massachusetts, but throughout New England.

Stephen Petrie has been making furniture in a variety of capacities since he graduated from college 19 years ago. With a degree in finance and a garage in his parents' backyard, he began his first woodworking shop, building a customer base in the Capitol District region of New York. Since then, Stephen has honed his skills working for a variety of craftsmen throughout New England. He brings a high level of energy and commitment to his work--the same levels that occasionally loft him out into the world on his motorcycle or bicycle, having not only criss-crossed the country on both, but having recently spent several months on an uncharted tour through Greece and Italy.
