At Cullen Grace Joinery, finishing is not the last small detail to be completed just before the delivery of a project. Instead, whether it is a complex dye, glaze, varnish and wax application, or a patterned accent shellac over a copper leafed table top, we consider the finish to be the icing on the cake.
We recognize that, ultimately, it is the finish on the wood that meets
the eye, it is the lens through which you see the wood. If it is given
the same level of care and attention as the design and joinery, the
overall project will rise above the standard. Working with the designers
to achieve the appropriate finish is part of this process. The best
finish starts well before the first stain is applied. It begins with
wood selection and is carried through each step along the way. By doing
the finish in house, we are able to maintain full control of the end
product.
